Jogging Track :

  • Service tag: Signage & Graphics / Civil Works
  • Location: Dubai Mall, Dubai
  • Timeline: 3 Days
  • Scope: Track reinstatement, surface prep, markings & graphics
  • Client: Runner’s Store (Dubai Mall)
  • Status: Completed

The Brief

A Runner’s store inside Dubai Mall had an in-store jogging track that had seen better days — the surface markings were faded, chipped, and in places completely worn through. The client needed the track fully reinstated: clean, sharp, and back to looking the way it did on day one. No downtime beyond what was absolutely necessary.

Our Approach

We began with a close inspection of the full track to assess the extent of paint degradation and surface damage. From there, we planned a phased execution — stripping everything back to a clean base first, then relaying the markings in a single controlled pass. Working inside an active retail environment meant tight coordination with the mall and the store to schedule work during off-hours and minimise disruption to operations.

What We Delivered

  • Full removal of existing damaged paint, markings, and graphics
  • Surface preparation and cleaning to manufacturer substrate standards
  • Reinstatement of track markings, lane lines, and in-store graphics
  • Precision application using commercial-grade floor paint
  • Clean handover with no residue, overspray, or edge bleed

    Challenges:

Working inside an active retail environment within one of the world’s busiest malls meant zero tolerance for overrun. Access was restricted to non-trading hours only, compressing the entire execution into overnight windows. The existing paint had bonded unevenly to the track surface in certain sections, requiring more aggressive preparation than anticipated without damaging the substrate beneath. Fumes and dust from stripping had to be fully managed to protect the surrounding retail space and comply with mall regulations.

The Final Outcome

The track was handed back looking brand new — crisp lines, accurate markings, and a finish that matched the store’s original design intent. Completed within the agreed window with zero disruption to trading hours.

Timeline

01 — Understanding the Requirement
Full brief taken from the client and store management — track dimensions, marking layout, brand colour specs, and the deadline tied to store trading hours.

02 — Site Visit & Technical Study
On-site inspection of the existing track surface, paint condition, and substrate type. Measurements taken, damage extent documented, and material quantities confirmed.

03 — Planning & Scope Finalization
Scope agreed and signed off: strip, prep, reinstate. Execution schedule built around mall access windows to ensure zero impact on store operations.

04 — Material & Execution Schedule
Floor paint, primers, and masking materials sourced and pre-staged. Application sequence planned — strip first, cure, then mark — so each phase was complete before the next began.

05 — On-Site Execution
Existing markings fully removed by mechanical and chemical stripping. Surface cleaned and prepared. New track markings applied with precision masking and commercial floor paint, lane by lane.

06 — Quality Check
Every line checked for straightness, edge definition, and colour consistency against the approved layout. Touch-ups completed before masking was removed.

07 — Final Handover
Full clean-down of the work area, walkthrough with the client, and track handed over ready for use — on schedule.
